Mass Management Accreditation, as part of The National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme offers operators access to additional mass concessions, by having an auditable system in place which contains policies & procedures that outline the how vehicles are to be loaded, weights verified or monitored and then recorded, to create consistency & accuracy in the loading of vehicles.
Operators are able to apply for either Concessional Mass Limits (CML Accreditation) still enabling general access to the road network or Higher Mass Limits (HML Accreditation) in order to access Higher Mass Limits, Operators in Queensland and New South Wales running HML must participate in the Intelligence Access Program IAP.
Having reliable methods of recording & monitoring load weights underpins an operators Mass Management Accreditation. The methods used to determine & monitor weights are up to the operator, however they must be clearly defined and understood by all personnel associated with loading vehicles, verifiable and consistently accurate.
In house Training in the application of the operators Mass Management System Policies & Procedures is required to be undertaken by all personnel who`s role involves Load Scheduling, planning or the Loading of Vehicles. Records of training are required to be kept as evidence of Understanding & Awareness. It is up the operator to ensure that the training provided is adequate & reflects the methods used and vehicles & equipment operated.
